South San schools affect students, families, educators, alumni, and the entire community. I created South San Education Explained to make education in South San easier to understand — from what’s happening in the schools to the education terms, policies, and Texas systems that shape what students and teachers experience every day.

How I Approach the Work

My own experience as a teacher in South San helps me recognize questions that need to be asked and issues that may deserve a closer look. I come from a science background, so I like data and evidence! But data and evidence don’t always speak for themselves — how they’re collected, presented, and interpreted matters. This can be especially difficult in education, where student learning is affected by many interacting factors and simple numbers rarely tell the whole story. With this site, I’m trying to make that information and context a little easier to understand.
